Community Garden

IMG_0519Barrett House’s community garden includes  twelve raised beds, an herb bed and a mint bed. In addition we have an 8’x20′ greenhouse to raise plants during the winter. Our vision is for this garden to provide food for the shelter’s kitchen, as well as provide a learning environment for the women and children at the shelter.

Volunteers are at the heart of ensuring the success of our garden. We can use volunteers on a regular committed weekly basis or for special group gardening maintenance projects. The Standard Community Garden and Grounds Chores lists the work needed on a regular basis. Contact our Development Assistant at 505-246-9244 ext. 112 for additional information  about volunteering in our garden.IMG_0364
