Need Shelter?

If you are experiencing homelessness and need of shelter, please call the Barrett House Shelter and leave a message every day at 243-4887 until someone returns your call.

Important: Leave a detailed message including your name, phone number, number of children, and ages of children.

To remain on the active waitlist for a bed, it is very important you leave a detailed message every day until you receive a call back.

For more information about our housing programs, please go to the Programs page. You must be referred through the New Mexico Housing Coalition to be considered for our housing programs.

Fair Housing

Housing discrimination isn’t just unfair – it’s against the law. If you feel that you’ve been denied the sale, rental or financing of a home because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or disability, report to HUD or your local fair housing center.

To file a complaint, go to www.hud.gov/fairhousing or call the HUD Hotline at 1-800-669-9777 (English/Español) or 1-800-927-9275 (TTY).

For local assistance, contact the City of Albuquerque Office of Civil Rights at 505-768-4595 (TTY 771) or by email at civilrights@cabq.gov. For more information, visit the Civil Rights webpage at www.cabq.gov/legal/civil-rights.
